| Comments | We hiked Coffin Mountain to see if this was a big beargrass year, but it is not, though still a nice show. The lupines are in full bloom and a tall sunflower is just opening. The white flag iris are in abundance but only those in the shade are still in their prime. Lots of paintbrush, larkspur and wolley sunflower. The best show is just off the road in a saddle on the way to the trailhead. Here the rhododrendron bloom is fabulous and the small meadows are filled with several penstemons in big showy blankets. |
